    Montgomery County Commissioners Court will consider funding two new programs in its 2011 budget, including the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County and Shattered Lives. Montgomery County Commissioners Court has approved a payment of $3.9 million to Pate Engineers for the county’s "pass-through" toll program. Montgomery County has received a grant to start a bait car program to combat auto thefts.

    The Conroe City Council recently honored several residents, a police officer and firefighters for saving lives in the community. More than 3,000 walkers turned out Saturday for the March of Dimes' March for Babies, sponsored by St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital. The event raised $200,000 for the March of Dimes. The Conroe High School Golden Girls are celebrating their 40th anniversary.

    Conroe once again has a tentative agreement to buy the water system for Crighton Woods and Crighton Ridge, which could be annexed by the city by the end of the year. Assistant City Administrator Paul Virgadamo has been named Conroe's new city administrator. County roadways slickened by drizzle were keeping Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies and EMS crews busy this morning responding to a number of vehicle accidents, and there's more rain in the forecast today. The family of 24-year-old Darrell Wayne Cade wants his killer found and justice served 22 years after Cade disappeared from the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.

    A legal dispute at Sadler Clinic is leaving thousands of patients in Montgomery County without the ability to see their regular doctors. About 125 people turned out Tuesday night for a debate on three positions on the Conroe City Council as well as the municipal judge’s bench. Conroe Mayor Webb K. Melder will chair a finance committee for the Texas Municipal League that will address key fiscal issues for cities in the next legislative session. New principals have been named for Conroe High School and Deretchin Elementary School in The Woodlands, which will be led by a graduate of the Conroe Independent School District. An estimated 70,000 people visted the 53rd annual Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo.

    A 15-year-old boy who was reported missing from his East Montgomery County home Saturday was found near his home Sunday. The Conroe Chamber is funding a study that will chart the course for economic development in the city over the next five years. John Cooper students have completed the school's 11th Habitat for Humanity house in Conroe.

    Two women won the Republican primary runoffs for open court benches in Montgomery County. The current operator of the Conroe oil fields will join a state hearing on four proposed injection wells that would pump millions of gallons of industrial waste deep underground in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Cold Case-Homicide Squad is seeking assistance regarding the recent identification of skeletal remains found more than 21 years ago. Conroe is holding a series of meetings to get public input on the renovation of two public parks. Montgomery County will test geothermal energy in its new Northwest Community Center in Montgomery and hopes to save 30 to 40 percent on energy bills annually.

    An inmate at the Joe Corley Detention Facility in Conroe is in critical condition after he was found hanging in a dorm room. The 53rd Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo kicks off April 9. The Conroe City Council will consider approval Thursday to build a proposed gateway to the city at South Frazier and Gladstell streets.

    The real estate market is slow in Conroe, but there are a handful of developments where houses are selling. After six years as city administrator and eight years as a city employee, Jerry McGuire recently announced his retirement, effective April 30. U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, recently gathered with residents for a Health Care Town Hall meeting in Montgomery. The new facilities and major renovations at the Lone Star College System will include uniform, state-of-the-art technology for students and staff.

    The 53rd Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo kicks off April 9. Early voting will begin April 5 in the Republican primary runoff for two judges’ seats in Montgomery County.     Texting and driving in Conroe soon could cost motorists $500. Montgomery County is leading a consortium to fund a study on the economic impact of withdrawing water from Lake Conroe in hopes of prompting state officials to look at new reservoirs and water sources for the southeast Texas region. Conroe City Administrator Jerry McGuire will retire April 30 and the city is ready to begin a search for his replacement.
