Right to Life group sets speech competition

    BY KIM MORGAN
    Chronicle correspondent

Pro-life versus pro-choice has been a hot topic for decades, and now high school juniors and seniors are invited to stand up and speak their mind from a right-to-life perspective.

The Montgomery County Right to Life organization is accepting registrations for its 2010 Student Oratory Contest. While the contest will be held April 10 at Covenant Christian School in Conroe, registration closes March 31.

Organizers said the contest encourages high school juniors and seniors to "confidently articulate" their pro-life views with others.

Students are asked to research, write and present a five to seven minute speech about abortion, infanticide, euthanasia or stem cell research.

The top three winners will receive scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,000. The first place winner will be invited to speak at the Montgomery County Right to Life Dinner for Life fundraiser April 24, and advance to compete at the state level oratory competition.
