    Nelson, Hamrick finish off swim season

    Montgomery swimmers recorded several top 10 finishes at the UIL Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships last week in Austin.

    The girls’ 200 free relay team led the way finishing second in 1 minute, 39.56 seconds. Ashley Gropp, Corrine Carter, Amy Gropp and Tracy Glaser comprised the group. The Lady Bears’ 400 free relay team of Ashley Gropp, Lauren Knutson, Amy Gropp, and Glaser, placed fourth (3:38.29).

    Ashley Gropp swam fourth (57.85) in the 100 fly, while Amy Gropp placed fourth (53.78) in the 100 free and seventh (24.72) in the 50 free. Glaser finished sixth (1:07.10) in the 100 breaststroke.

    Collin Stuart swam sixth (1:43.60) in the boys’ 200 I.M. and seventh (52.31) in the 100 fly, while Aaron Villemez placed eighth (55.43) in the 100 back.

    Willis’ Emma Nelson (5:17.98) and Michae Hamrick (5:25.25) swam seventh and eighth, respectively, in the girls’ 500 free.
