Wilkinson Elementary
The “Got Green?” was a huge success. In only a matter of two hours, families and staff members planted 47 trees, prepared a tree nursery, started a garden and learned a variety of tips and tools on topics ranging from outdoor education to recycling to preventing forest fires. Not only did families get to plant their very own tree on campus from start to finish, but students were able to take home terrariums, make tree cookie necklaces, pet live snakes, create bird feeders, meet Smokey the Bear, see how a cotton gin operates and learn about camping. What a wonderful sight it was to look across the field and witness a sea of green t-shirts beautifying the playground area and preparing the staging area for lots of learning to come!
