A fourth grade student from Legends Run reported that a man tried to lure her into his truck on her way to the bus stop Thursday morning.
The Birnham Woods Elementary School student said a man in his 30s, wearing a navy T-shirt and tan baseball cap, was watching her as she made her way to the bus stop at 6:45 a.m. before doing a u-turn and motioning for her to come to his truck. She ran to a neighbor’s home and the man drove away, Conroe Independent School District officials say.
The suspect was driving a red Dodge four-door pickup truck with several white stickers on the tailgate.
The case is being investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, which will work collaberatively with Conroe Independent School District Police.
Officials from CISD sent a letter home to parents in the area.
They also offered safety tips for student. Among those are: don’t talk to strangers, stay with a buddy; scream, yell and run if someone tries to grab you; run to your house or a neighbor’s house and report the incident immediately to police. Residents also are urged to report any suspicious activity in neighborhoods to police, including a description of the person and vehicle and a license plate number.
