The field is set for the May 8 Conroe municipal elections, with candidates vying for three council positions as well as municipal judge.
The majority of seats are open on the five member council, with places 3, 4 and 5 up for elections this year. Two of those council members, Jerry Streater and Jay Ross Martin, have reached the end of their term limits and can’t run again.
Councilman Jim Gentry is the only councilman who will run for reelection to his seat, Place 3. He will be challenged by Charlene Payne.
Cara McCollum and Guy Martin will face off for place 4 on the ballot, and Gil Snider and Leo Hewett will contend for place 5 in the race.
For municipal court, current Judge James Cates will face two opponents, Mike Davis and Jeffrey Helms.
Early voting begins April 26 and election day is scheduled for May 8.
