Spring brings lots of things, including an abundance of puppies and kittens.
If you're thinking of getting a pet, there's plenty to choose from at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter, 8535 Texas 242.
The shelter depends on the community, not only for adoptions and foster families, but for volunteers.
Volunteers walk dogs, socialize cats, answer phones, clean kennels and bathe animals.
The shelter wants to say a big "thank you" to those folks, and will do so from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. March 10 at the George Mitchell Library, 8125 Ashlane Way in The Woodlands.
It's the first annual Volunteer Appreciation Event.
The shelter will also honor three nonprofit organizations: The Woodlands Dog Park Club for donating more than $300,000, and is the primary sponsor of free spay-neuter and vaccination clinics; Friends of Montgomery County Animal Shelter for raising funds for medical needs; and Texas No Kill, for making substantial donations to the spay-neuter clinic.
Montgomery County Animal Shelter was founded in 2001.
