Before an overflow crowd of more than 100, the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District approved the hiring of a consultant to determine how – and if – underground brackish water could be used to meet a mandate reduction in groundwater use in the county.

Citing concerns over the economy and taxes, Montgomery County Commissioners Court pulled a discussion on a proposed $335 million road bond issue from its agenda Monday. Early voting begins next week for the Republican primary. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is purchasing an armored vehicle for its SWAT team. Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved the hiring of two experts Monday in its continuing fight against injection wells proposed in the county.
